EDS Skills and Self-Care Online Course
Skills and strategies for managing energy, pain, education, career, relationships, stress, self-advocacy, self-efficacy, and more!
Join us for four consecutive Mondays from 4:30-5:30pm during which PRISM will teach 2-4 skills/strategies per week to help teens and adults build fulfilling lives. This course is open to the public, to anyone living with EDS or chronic musculoskeletal pain and fatigue, and to their family members!
These years are critical for establishing healthy habits, setting realistic goals and expectations for oneself, developing confidence, forging personal and professional relationships, evolving relationships with family members, and learning to live with both triumphs and disappointments in every area of life. Chronic illness, physical limitations, and dependence on others can amplify and strain this journey. Our hope is to provide some lights along this path to help ease some of the more challenging twists and turns, and to highlight some of the ways in which these challenges may bring us to new heights and more spectacular views of the world. Please register by completing the form below. Within 3 business days, you will receive confirmation of your registration. On the day of the talk, you will receive a zoom link to join us via your email. We look forward to seeing you online!
For our first course, we chose to keep it relatively short - 4 sessions of 1 hour each, occurring on Thursdays. Our intention was to present material in in plain language that should be accessible to patients and family members new to the diagnoses. Then further scientific/medical explanations and research were presented to bring value to practitioners or experienced patients already knowledgeable about the conditions.
Dates and Times:
Monday June 3, 10, 17, 24 4:30 - 5:40PM
Cost:
$65 per user (if patient and their parent/spouse/support person both want to join on the same computer at the same time, that's fine! In order to be able to continue doing these, we do need to charge enough to cover the planning time, etc.). Free to persons with Medicaid.
Format:
- Handout (provided day before class for each class)
- Zoom (we think we have worked out the kinks!)
- First 30-40 min: Speaker Presentation
- Second 30-40 min: Practice Session: Participants may choose to share their video, chat with the host and each other, and “raise hand” to ask questions while practicing the skills
Important!:
- This is an educational offering and is not medical advice. Please consult with your physician before incorporating any techniques into your care and before making any changes to your daily routine.
- Please do not share course materials with anyone who is not registered for the course as they are not detailed enough to be utilized without the additional information presented in the course or without consulting your healthcare provider.

Note: If you are a PRISM Patient, please tune in for our First Tuesdays program from 5-6pm on the first Tuesday of each month during which we discuss what we do at PRISM in more detail. All PRISM Patients receive a notification and opportunity to register the day before, and then a zoom link to log in. That program is complementary for our patients.
