Meet Ashley Shepherd, MS, LAT, ATC, MAT, CYT

Injury Prevention Specialist

I am a BOC Certified Athletic Trainer with 6 years of recreational sports and 1.5 years of orthopedic clinical experience. During this time, I was able to learn and implement emergency care such as reductions of dislocated joints, performing musculoskeletal evaluations with associated prevention/rehabilitation programming, and casting/durable medical equipment (DME) use/fitting. The transition to PRISM has been so rewarding and I am excited to work with patients in order to help them achieve their goals while helping to educate on improving health and well-being. I have loved continuing to learn and grow since joining PRISM; working under Dr. Zingman and the rest of the PRISM team has provided me the opportunity to build my knowledge and clinical skills. I am excited to work with the challenge and complexity of chronic health conditions, illness, and injuries.

I have been a certified yoga teacher (CYT) since 2018 and have loved incorporating this into my clinical practice. Along with the physical yoga asana practice, I have also been able to incorporate ayurvedic treatments into my appointment which aid in the mind-body-spirit connection while reducing stress on the autonomic nervous system. By working with a more holistic approach to medicine, I truly believe that patients can benefit and thrive by learning more about what makes them unique. I am originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania but have lived all around Virginia the past 7 years. In my free time enjoy spending time with family/friends, expanding my garden, watching movies, staying active with walking/running and yoga, and spending time with my husband and two adorable beagles, Timmy and Joey.
