Meet Sarah Cohen Solomon, MD
Pediatrician
About Dr. Cohen Solomon
I am a General Pediatrician specializing in supporting children, adolescents, and young adults manage chronic pain and fatigue conditions to reach their full potential. My passion for this field stems from my own experience as a patient; after struggling with pain for years, I was diagnosed with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome – Hypermobility type during college and learned what my body needed to achieve my personal goals. After graduating from Brandeis University, I spent a year working in an onco-genetics research lab, where I gained an appreciation for basic research methods and analysis. I earned my medical degree from Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA. I remained with TJUH for residency at the affiliated AI DuPont/Nemours Hospital for Children in Wilmington, DE. Between my own medical history and the hospital’s strong rehabilitation program, I developed a passion for working with children and teens with connective tissue disorders, chronic pain, and dysautonomia.
My own extensive experience as a patient has deeply informed my approach to pediatric medicine. I emphasize compassionate, holistic, and individualized care, and respect that managing chronic illness is often traumatizing, both for the patient and the family. Together, we will set individual goals and create a comprehensive treatment plan to reach them. I follow the 3Ps approach to pain management: pharmacologic, physical, and psychologic, which is an evidence-based technique to help pediatric patients manage chronic pain conditions, and I apply this as well to the management of MCAS and dysautonomia/POTS. I also believe strongly that appropriate accommodations, or as I like to call it “removing unnecessary obstacles,” at school and at work are vital for success.
I am happy to be part of the PRISM team and a part of your child's journey to optimal health!
